We’re in the doll kitchen this week with a few fun crafts. Enjoy today’s little bite sized project and don’t stay away too long because I have few more “bites” to share this week!———————-
I made doll size frosted sugar cookies over the weekend for my daughter’s birthday. She has been enjoying her bakery doll set (more about the doll here and here). These days we play bakery almost everyday, so for her birthday I added to her set with a few homemade items.
Today I’ll share these frosted sugar cookies that look good enough to eat. 🙂
Let’s craft some cookies!
Frosted Suar Cookies
Supplies:
- wood or cardboard shaped cutout
- dimensional paint (like puffy paint)
- glitter and beads
Cookie
I am using a mini wood cutout from a craft store for the cookie. You could also cut a shape out of cardboard for the cookie.
Icing
Cover the top of the shape with dimensional paint. Leave the edges of the natural wood peeking out.
Since this is icing, any imperfections will just add character.
Sprinkles
While it is still wet, sprinkle with glitter and beads. I used clear glitter and micro beads. Allow to fully dry.
You can’t see the clear glitter in the photos but in person I love the look. The cookies shimmer and shine with the sugary effect.
As for the colorful sprinkles you can use colored glitter, beads, or small sequins. I had some micro beads on hand that I used. They are little glass beads without a hole in the middle. Sprinkles come in all shapes and colors so this would be fun to try this with different size and shapes of glitter, beads or sequins.
Set these aside to dry completely. Mine took a little longer to dry because the paint is on the thick side.
These frosted sugar cookies look good enough to eat! We will have fun “making” cookies all this week while we play bakery!
See you soon for another “bite sized” doll craft!

Looks real and good enough to eat! Wonderful job Anna!

Wow this looks like a fun craft! I might make it later this week, but I might just use card stock for the cookie and use markers for icing
Anna says
Abby, great idea for adapting the craft!

CLEVER!!! I must do this. I’m not sure I can trust myself to go back to the craft store though. I always walk in with a $2 list and walk out with a $35 bag. 😀
Anna says
Yes, the craft store is dangerous if you have the crafting bug! I know I do! 🙂

These look great!

Yum, I love this baking theme! How do you come up with these ideas?! Now to find me some cardboard cutouts and paint…
Anna says
Thanks! Ideas usually build on each other for me! For example with these cookies, my daughter and I have been playing bakery together ever since Christmas and we have been using wood cutouts as the cookies. For her birthday I thought it would be fun to decorate some of them as frosted cookies and this is what I came up with! Hope that makes sense!
