What do you think about matching girl and doll clothes?
They seem to be more available the last few years. When my oldest daughter (who is 13 now) was little, matching clothes were hard to find.
It seems like they are popping up everywhere now! I came across this little set on a Carter’s rack at Target for $12.
I was surprised that they came as small as size 12 months!
When I sat down to take a few pictures I realized why the 12 months size would be fun. These matching PJ’s are cute in photos! It visually emphasizes some of that love a little girl has for her doll.
My daughter, at 2, is too young to notice much that she is wearing matching clothes with her doll.
Do girls among your family or friends like wearing matching clothes with their dolls? If so, what age is it most popular?
I see they are available in a range of sizes. For the 18″ dolls, American Girl sell clothes in sizes 6-16.
Just in case you are in the market for a matching outfit, here are a few companies that sell matching girl and doll outfits and their price ranges.
Dollie & Me $25-$50 (also available on Zulilly for a discount)
Lil’ Blue Boo $50-$55
What a Doll (K-Mart) $8-$25
Our Generation Doll and Me Fashion Sets (Target) $30
American Girl $72-$104+

What sizes are they? They are so cute! 😀
Anna says
Ella, My daughter is wearing size 3T. I bought it a little big so she could wear it awhile! The store carried sizes 12 months to 4T or 5T (not sure which one), and they all came with a doll sized one!
Ella says
Thanks! I’m looking for 10 and up! This is cute though!

My 8-year-old dd has already asked me to make her an outfit to match her AG doll’s favorite outfit. We homeschool, though, so she has no outside influences to tell her what’s “cool” or not. It may be different with other girls her age. HTH!

Christa, Thanks for sharing! It’s so cute she requested a matching outfit! Be sure to take a few pictures if you make those matching outfits! They grow up too fast!

Does anyone think it is weird for a 14 year old to match her doll??
Anna says
Madi, I think it’s all up to the girl and what she’s comfortable with!
Ella says
I agree! My friend is 14 and she still loves dolls!
Teddy says
Madi, I’m 24 and like to match my dolls. Don’t worry about what other people think about it.

When I was little, my Aunt made me a rag doll, every Christmas & Birthday she made a new matching outfit for me and my doll. I thought it was the most awesome thing ever. I don’t make dolls, but my 2 girls each have American Girl dolls, and I have made several matching dresses, nightgowns & PJ’s. I have made matching doll/girl PJ’s for my nieces, and they all seem pretty happy with them. I think it is really cute, and they grow too fast!
Anna says
What a sweet memory and an amazing aunt! I love that you are sharing the tradition your nieces and daughters! They do grow way too fast!

Matching girl and doll outfits are a big hit in our house. My kids love to coordinate their outfits with one another, especially my 2yo likes to “match match” with her siblings. So having the chance for their dolls to also “match match” is appealing. My 6yo dd likes to match her doll for special occasions or bedtime. My 4yo ds tries to coordinate his outfits with his doll (not very many boy doll clothes and no matching outfits available that I can find!). I really need to learn how to sew! Dollie and me is a staple in our house, we have many of their pajamas and outfits. We also have a few What a Doll outfits, but they are harder to find. The brand Maggie & Zoe used to make gorgeous matching spring dresses. We found a few at TJ Maxx and Marshals over the years. I’m not sure if they still do. I’ve never heard of Lil Blue Boo, so I’ll have to check them out!

My granddaughter would love a matching outfit but she is 8 years old and plus size no patterns available for her and her dolly. My granddaughters did not get their dolls until they were older. Still they love their dolls and want matching outfits. I am 60 years old and I STILL love playing dolls. Really it is and always has been making pretty clothes for the dolls but still. . . .
