Welcome to a mini series featuring places to see and things to do in Louisville, KY. There are fun pictures to experience the city and doll size activities to enjoy from home! Whether you have been to Louisville Kentucky, are planning a visit or you love to learn about new places, follow along for fun!
Here is the series all in one place:
- School Project: Louisville Kentucky– A printable to make your own doll size school project featuring fun things in Louisville, KY
- Off to the Races (part 1)- Looking at the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
- A Victorian Stroll (part 2)-A lovely look at Louisville extensive Victorian Neighborhoods
- Mammoth Cave (part 3)- Visiting this National Park with the longest cave system in the world!
- Waterfront Fun (part 4)- We are exploring some of the fun the Ohio River, bordering Louisville, has to offer!
Today we’ll make 2 fun stops on the river and then take a look at a hands-on river craft.
Travel the River in Style!
Louisville Kentucky is on the Ohio River. We saw the American Queen Steamboat at dock. Wouldn’t it be fun to climb aboard this Victorian Style paddleboat for a relaxing river cruise?
Louisville has her own steamboat, the Belle of Louisville. Turning 100 last year, she is the oldest operating Mississippi River-style steamboat in the world!
The Big Four Bridge
This old railroad bridge has been converted into a pedestrian/biking bridge to cross over the Ohio River. Crossing over the river also means you cross over into a different state, from Kentucky to Indiana!
The structure of the old bridge is a fun element.
The walk offers beautiful views of the Ohio River and the cities nearby.
The bridge is enjoyed by the community and visitors alike. The whole area by the river is a great spot for families to enjoy the outdoors!
A Mini Project to Take You to the River!
I love to make and find doll size projects for any adventure! This mini paddle steamboat would be a perfect doll size project to continue the fun!
It is a printable pattern from The Toy Maker that would be perfect for doll play! Print and make your own!
School Project
There is a printable school project for dolls that goes along with our adventures in Louisville Kentucky. (Find it here.) Add to it with our stop on the riverfront!
- Glue on the paddle steamboat (from the school printable) and color it.
- Write in your favorite things, or fun facts about the waterfront in Louisville, KY
- Add your own pictures or drawings!
