It’s Halloween tomorrow! Do you have your costume ready? Last year I made witch costumes for the dolls. These little witches needed fun colorful brooms to go with their costumes. I think the broom really finished off the costume!
It is made with ribbon and a dowel. It’s really so simple and quick to make.
I’ll show you how to make your own doll size witches broom. You can make it colorful like the ones I made or you can make it look like a real broom depending on what material you use. It is made the same way we made the mop, so I just used the pictures from the mop tutorial to show you how.
Supplies:
- ribbon (If you want it look like a real broom use natural color yarn or raffia)
- dowel
- scissors
- glue
- cardboard
Cut a rectangle out of cardboard. Wrap the ribbon around the cardboard. I made the brooms thinner than the mop, so I didn’t wrap it around as many times. Pull the wrapped bundle off the cardboard, keeping the strands together.
Place the dowel in the center of the bundle. Pinch the end and tie it onto the dowel. To keep it from slipping off the dowel, lift up the ribbon from the bottom and place a little glue next to the dowel.
With the mop we kept the loops at the bottom, now to finish off the broom let’s trim those loops off the bottom.
Fun little brooms to complete a cute little witch costume for Halloween!
