My 12 year old loves to plan get-togethers and little parties. This summer when she knew my sister and her family (cousins!) would be in town she started dreaming up a girl party. The dreaming stage of party planning is a lot of fun. You know the senerio,”if we had unlimited time and money…”. When it came down to it, they came in July, the week the Saige movie (from American Girl) came out. The girls decorated with balloons and streamers (in awesome animal prints!). We made Saige’s feather earrings and necklaces. (We used the craft tutorial I made for Doll Diaries here.) The girls printed off coloring pages and everyone, grandma, mothers, and daughters, colored and watched the Saige movie. (You are never to old to color!) We had a fun evening together!
Back in the party dreaming/planning stage we wanted to put on a spread of food. Something fun and lovely and delicious. That’s when this idea first came to me. Use the doll table and chairs as food pedestals on our table! Although this part of the party didn’t materialize, the idea stuck with me. I put the doll table on our dining room table and for weeks, every time I walked by it, I considered the challenge. With the popularity of cake stands and food pedestals, this doll table looked so natural on the dining room table! This week I rolled up my sleeves and put together the spread I’ve been feeling a little nag to make. Maybe it wasn’t in time for our girl party but now that I’ve figured it out once, it’s ready for our next one! Come and enjoy our little spread of fruits, vegetables, cheese and crackers.
The doll tabletop makes a perfect pedestal for food. There’s even room under the table to serve up something tasty.
The chairs make a perfect place to perch a bowl or basket of yumminess.
Take a plate and let’s get a closer look at what’s being served!
The focus of the spread is a plate of fruit and veggies with a cup of dip in the middle. The doll table gives it some height and shows off the beautiful fruit and veggies.
I It’s roomy under the table and a perfect place for these mini crates full of crackers. If I hadn’t had these cute crates already on hand, I would have spread the crackers on a plate, partially under the table.
Mini baskets hold more veggies.
There is something for everyone!
Mix in regular dishes for wet items like the carrots…
…or the cheese. Mmmmm, fresh mozzarella balls!
I’m glad you tried a little of everything!
You know how much I enjoy repurposing! So, it’s no surprise I enjoyed dreaming up another use for our doll furniture!! Now I’m going to enjoying putting it to use even more!
Of course my sweet daughter has been talking parties and get-togethers for this fall. She is my party planner! This time I’ve got the party food covered!

Where did you get the adorable table and chairs???
Anna says
They are both repurposed from other things…The table is made from a foot stool and the chairs were plant holders!
