Over the weekend we had a cousins Halloween party. The older cousins/siblings each planned a Halloween themed station and the younger cousins/siblings rotated around to each station. This is the third year we’ve held this party and it gets better every year. My favorite part is watching those creative kids at work creating, collaborating, and planning a fun time for the younger ones! It’s a fun time for all!
My contribution to the party this year was a mini potion bottle party favor. I originally made them to add to our doll Halloween decor and when they were done I realized they would also make perfect party favors.
Whether you want to make these mini potion bottles for your doll size play or for a mini party favor, I’ve included a printable to make it easy peasy.
Let’s take a look at what you’ll need!
Supplies:
- Potion Labels Printable
- scissors
- paint brush
- mini bottles
- glue
First of all I’m going to give you the run down on the mini bottles I’ve come across while shopping recently. These are just a few ideas to point out different sources for mini bottles.
The most recent find were these mini bottles sold in the Halloween section next to the cake and cupcake decorations at Walmart. Each little bottle is filled with a “Flavored Cupcake Sugar Topping”. They look just like potion bottles to me, and inspired this craft!
These “corked vials” come in a variety of sizes and are sold in the scrapbook section of JoAnn’s. Fill them with your own potion of glitter!
What about “Nail Art” mini bottles? I found these at the dollar store filled with glitter, confetti, and beads. Any of them would make cute potion bottles!
With your mini bottles in hand it’s time to get started. Print off the Potion Labels Printable. I made the labels in three sizes so it’s sure to fit any mini bottle you want to use.
Cut out the labels and spread glue on the back.
Position the label on the mini bottle and press it down flat.
Repeat with each potion bottle you want to make.
I made the labels to coordinate with the different colors of sugar crystals. Toads, pumpkins, caterpillars…
…fire, algae, spiders and bats, oh, my!
Whether you fill your own mini bottles or buy some already filled, they will make fun little potions! The Halloween inspired labels are supposed to spark the imagination so it doesn’t matter so much what’s actually in the bottles!
After our party everyone went home with a mini potion bottle. The boys liked them as much as the girls and wanted to fill them with a new potion when theirs was all eaten up. And as for the girls, they have a doll size bottle for play. It was a fun party favor and will continue to be fun for play!

Those are really cute. I’m glad somebody else found those little bottles at Walmart. They’re adorable! We’ve been filling ours with tacky glue and glitter with a bit of food coloring — making cool potions for our dolls! I love your labels. And thanks for the great ideas!!!
