Before I get started I want to be sure kids know that this project should be done with an adult. As you will see in a minute we will be using a steamer and it can get very hot!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are having a wonderful day with family and friends! This cornucopia may be doll size, but it’s also perfect for you!
This “horn of plenty” has plenty of uses! A sweet fall treat for a friend or two, a favor for your Thanksgiving table, or a fun food craft.
Thanks to my sister-in-law for sharing the idea! She remembers making these with her mom and wanted to make them this year with her kids! I found this link here helpful, too. I made a few alterations while trying to figure them out and I’ll share my version with you! I would definitely make them again!
These are surprisingly simple to make, so let’s take a look!
The line up is a steamer, sugar cones, runts, kitchen scissors, cling wrap, and mini hair bands. (Don’t worry, those cute clear bands show up later in the process, so you can see ’em.)
Place cones in a steamer and turn it on for 7-10 minutes. Times may vary by steamer, so watch it carefully the first time around. Warning: Use cation when working with the steamer. It is hot and steam can burn!
Between 5 and 10 minutes carefully take out a cone to test it’s readiness. They are ready when they are soft to the touch. Now you can easily cut them to size with kitchen scissors. They harden up again pretty fast so work with one at a time. Remember to replace the steamer lid each time so they don’t harden while they wait their turn.
After they are trimmed down place them back in the steamer to further soften.
Within another 5 minutes some may even start opening up.
Again, only taking one out at a time, bend the point up into a cornucopia curve. Hold and shape it until it cools off enough and hardens up.
What if a mini cornucopia needs to be portable? Lay it on a small square of cling wrap, draw up the plastic wrap. Take that clear hair band and secure the wrap.
These mini cornucopias are a quick and cute Thanksgiving treat! You may not be able to get to these this year, but there is always next year! I will definitely be making these again next year!
Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving!
