We do a lot of sewing on Doll It Up but I love to feature craft projects once in a while.  Craft projects are a fun way to add more doll size accessories and details for play.  It is also a way to include kids to make something for their dolls.  Today we are decorating wrapping paper to make little doll sized presents!  This project uses things from around the house to make a piece of colorful polka dot wrapping paper.  Let’s get started!

Doll Size Wrapping Paper

Materials:

• 3-5 paint colors
• paper lunch sack or brown craft paper
• 3″ x 3″ cardstock paper
• craft knife and self healing mat
• pencil
• sponge
• paper plate
• scissors
• iron and ironing board

1. Cut a paper lunch sack along a fold and around the base to open up the bag flat.  Lay the bag on an ironing board and press it flat with an iron on low heat.
2. Draw a simple circle on a piece of cardstock paper.  Cut out the circle using a craft knife on a self healing mat.
3. Squeeze one paint color onto a paper plate. Dab the paint with a dry sponge.  Lay the circle stencil on the paper sack.  Dab the paint on the circle stencil.  Move the stencil over a few inches and dab with more paint.  Repeat all over the paper.  Rinse out the sponge and let the first color dry.
4. Add each color as a separate layer by repeating step 3.

Now you are ready to to use this as doll size wrapping paper!  I wrapped a small box with the paper and added curling ribbon to the top!

Use a different paint color combination for different holidays or special occasions!  I hope you enjoy this project!  Whether you want to make wrapping paper to wrap a few presents to set up a fun doll scene for play or you are looking for a craft project to make with kids, this project is fun for everyone!
