This quick scarf is made from a t-shirt. It’s simple to make and a fun accessory!
Have you seen the people sized version of these scarves? My mom has been making these adorable scarves this past year and after she gave me one for Christmas I had the idea to scale it down for dolls.
This ruffly scarf is cute left down or tied in front!
Let me walk you through how I made it.
You need t-shirts for this project. This is a great way to reuse kids clothing. You need only a little fabric for this project, so you can work around a stain or a hole. If you are looking for a specific color don’t forget to look for really great deals at the thrift store! I picked up this green shirt for 50 cents. Perfect!
I made a paper circle pattern by tracing a cup. It is about 2 3/4 inches across.
Trace 4 circles on the fabric with chalk.
Each circle needs a swirl pattern about 1/2″ thick. I sketched one on my paper pattern so when I went to draw it on the fabric I had a guide.
When cutting out the circle be sure to cut through both layers of the t-shirt. We need a total of 8 circles. After the circle is cut out, cut along the swirl line. Pick up the circle by the middle and let it dangle. While holding it in one hand pull the strand through your other hand from the top to the bottom. The fabric will stretch out a little and have a loose ruffle look.
Match up the centers of 2 circles at a time. This will make 4 long strands.
Glue the strands together in the middle where they meet.
Cut a strand about 3″ and pull it to make it into a chord.
Gather the center of the long strands and tie them in the middle with the chord you just made. Trim the chord if it is too long.
Now the scarf’s ready! See how quick and easy!
I used really thin t-shirt knits and I love the weight and feel of the scarf! It’s perfect for dolls!
I am loving all the cascading ruffles!
Time to go make an orange scarf because I’m pretty much obsessed with orange! 🙂

My daughter is getting a Generations doll from Santa this year. I wanted to provide her with some outfits as a gift from us. Well I definitely didn’t realize premade outfits would cost so much. I was thrilled to find this tutorial. I finished making a no sew floral skirt and wanted an accessory to spruce up the black tee. Now the doll is ready for an elegant evening out…thanks to you and your amazing tut!
