Make a Ribbon Ponytail Holder for Dolls

I was driving by the soccer fields last week and saw a group of girls all standing together in their soccer uniforms.  Each one of their heads had a matching poof of ribbons.  I knew right then, I’d be making a doll sized version for our dolls!

So here it is, the ribbon ponytail holder!

Wouldn’t it be cute to make a matching girl sized version!

Of course it will work with any doll outfit!  Since we have a soccer outfit, well, I had to make it to coordinate with it!

Have you made one before?  I made them for my oldest daughter when she was little, so I’m giving it a spin, doll sized!

If you would like to join me you’ll need-

  • scissors
  • assorted ribbon (cut to 4″ segments)
  • thin elastic cord (cut to 4″)

I am using the elastic chord as a ponytail holder.  Tie it in a square knot.  Start tying the ribbon around the elastic.  The widest ribbon I used was 3/8″.

All the other ribbons were 1/8″.  I just love the effect of the thin ribbon!  It’s just right for dolls!

Keep adding ribbon until you make it all the way around the elastic.  I ended up using 4 of each color of ribbon.

That’s it!  Style your dolls hair with the regular hairbands you use.  Add the ribbon ponytail holder last.  It is not as strong as the regular hairbands I use, but it makes a great decorative touch!
