Today I have a fun bonus project to share with you.  We will be making the hair bow that’s pictured with the cheer outfit in My Doll, My Style.  This little hair bow is a perfect accessory to the cheer outfit but would also be a fun addition to any doll outfit.

Cheer Hair Bow

This hair bow for 18 inch dolls is a quick and easy project made from ribbon.  I made this bow out of 1 ½” ribbon. You can vary the width of the ribbon for different looks.

Supplies and Materials:

• 1 ½” Ribbon- 12”
• ½”  Ribbon- 2”
• Hair Clips
• Thread (optional)
• Aleene’s® Stop-Fraying (optional)
• Hot glue
• Scissors

1. Lay the ribbon flat with the wrong side up.  Fold the left ribbon end down towards the right.  The right ribbon end folds towards the left.  The ribbon ends cross in the middle and are now right sides up, as pictured above.  This is the basic bow shape.

2. Pinch the center to draw it up into a bow.

Tie thread around the center of the bow to hold the pinched area.  (optional- This will make it easier for ribbons that are slippery.)

3. With the right side of the bow facing down glue the end of the ½” ribbon to the back center of the pinched area.

Wrap the ribbon around the front side of the bow and around to the backside.  Place a dot of hot glue to the underside (not the back) of the bow.

4. While holding the hair clip pinched open, place a dot of hot glue on the back of the clip.  Place the hair clip through the ½” ribbon. It’s important to hold the clip open so the clip isn’t glued shut.

5. With the bow facing up, fold the bow ends in half.

Cut each bow end at an angle from the ribbon edge towards the fold.

6. Place No-fray on the cut ribbon ends.  The hair bow is finished!
