Here is today’s project.
It all started with these unassuming little rings. I picked them up at the dollar store because I wanted to put a spider on sweet Lucy’s headband. She needed it to match her spider shirt, of course! 🙂 The next thing I know I’m making fun halloween doll accessories until I’ve used up almost the whole bag of 50 rings.
Come with me the next 2,3,4… yes 4 days, and I’ll show you the different things I made. And I’ll show you how, too!
Up first, the soda can flower.
Remember the soda can flower, headband tutorial, from a while back? I recently taught a group the hair clip version. I made some changes to add a little more dimension and I halloweenified ( 🙂 ) it. I’ll show you the changes, but for the full tutorial that starts with how to safely cut that aluminum can, visit here.
Warning: As a reminder this project should be done with adult supervision. The materials can be sharp and precautions should be taken to ensure safety. Removing the top and bottom of the can is the most hazardous step and should be done by an adult.
Visit here to get started. Then, take the three pieces you have safely 🙂 cut out and… …gently fold them. You don’t want to crease it hard. Just enough to make a little line. Repeat 4 times around each circle until it looks like you have 8 “pie” slices. Next, gently bend the edge of each “pie” slice. Bend it back for the largest circle and forward for the 2 smaller circles. Now for the star of the show, the bat ring! Cut off the “ring”.
Glue the aluminum layers in a stack and add the bat embellishment.
Now to add the clip. Cut a piece of felt to the size of the clip. Put the felt in the mouth of the clip, between the 2 sides. Add hot glue to the outside of one side and place it down on the back of the flower. All done! Now go ahead and try it on!
This soda can flower is cute and has a little more dimension but best of all, it is completely halloweenified!
Hope to see you tomorrow for some more halloween ring fun!

What a neat idea! I love the idea of layering the aluminum and the spider rings.
