Congratulation to Camille G. for winning the American Girl Doll and Wardrobe Giveaway!!! Wow, what a fabulous giveaway with many hours of play ahead for a happy girl!!!
The outfit I contributed to the giveaway is off to a new home! I have shared how I made the purse and the vest. Today I will share the finishing touches of this outfit! With a few changes to the shoes, the dress, and a simple headband I think the outfit really came together! Let’s get to it!
Shoes
A little criss-cross sparkle goes a long way to customize plain shoes. I used simple black flats from Springfield Collection and Glitter Ribbon from American Crafts. It is the same ribbon I used on the purse.
Dress
I wanted to use a dress I had already made and embellish it with trim. (Here is more about how I made the dress.) After considering the options I decided on a soft sparkly trim. Here is what I was looking for-
- A narrow trim that doesn’t overwhelm the bodice.
- A flexible trim that easily follows the neckline.
- A soft trim that doesn’t snag on the dress or the dolls hair.
- A matching color or a color that doesn’t distract from the dress.
I love how it came together. The trim is subtle and sweet at the neckline.
I stitched the trim on the dress along the top and bottom edge.
The trim definitely dresses up the outfit!
Headband
I came across feathers that perfectly matched the outfit so, I wanted to incorporate them. I came up with a simple headband.
I love the texture.
To make this simple feather headband, cut a length of elastic chord that fits the dolls head. Cut a small rectangle of felt. Glue the ends of the elastic chord on the felt.
Place glue on the felt and then add the feathers.
A few details add the finishing touches this outfit needs, the customized shoes, a little trim, and a feather headband!
Look for details and love the details!
