I was waltzing through the fabric store and noticed that they had a new rack of fabric out for the season. 😮 There were many wonderful new selections but what caught my eye was the many dazzling sequin fabrics! 😍 It’s exciting because we’ve been diving into topics about sequin fabric lately on the blog (See Sequin Fabric part 1 and part 2 for more). Also my newest pattern, the Sequin Hair Bow features sequin fabric. So I chose one of the new sequin fabrics to share with you.
I got to work and made the sequin fabric into an assortment of bows. Are you surprised that all these different colors of bows come from one piece of fabric?
Meet Unicorn Sequin fabric 🦄(That’s really what it’s named on the bolt label. 😂 And isn’t it fabulous!). With a close up view of the yardage you can see all of the colors and the fun way each color overlaps and blends into the next! I want to try incorporating those fun color transition into a project. ❤️ ❤️
Here is about a yard of the fabric laid out flat. It’s cool because a yard of this fabric you will get you a little of every color.
Fabric Notes
It’s hard to really take in a fabric and what it would be like on a project with just photos so I’m including a run down of specific fabric notes about the Unicorn Sequin fabric🦄.
- Fabric backing type- It has a mesh fabric backing. (See Types of Sequin Fabric for more details.)
- Stretch- It has a two-way stretch, stretching perpendicular to the selvage. There is no stretch parallel to the selvage.
- Sequins- They are stitched flat in rows. Each row of sequins is connected with one thread, so you can loose several sequins off the cut end of the thread.
- Nap- The fabric has no nap, or in other words a particular direction the sequins must lay.
- Sequin size- Each sequin measures 1/8″.
- Other features- When the fabric was made the mesh and sequins were white and the color was sprayed on. The back side of the fabric and sequins are white. If you remove a sequin there is a white spot on the fabric backing where the sequin was.
Where to find it.
I found the sequin fabric at my local Joann’s. As of today it is not yet listed at JoAnn’s online. If you want to check at your local JoAnn’s it is in the Glitterbug collection. It is named Unicorn Sequin Multi and the product number is 1586-5389. I hope this helps you find it if you are interested in this particular fabric.
I hope you found this fabric spotlight helpful! There are new fabrics out each season and it can be fun to pick up one to try on a project or two!

Hi Kaylyn, The fabric is $9.99/ yard. That’s a pretty good price for sequin fabric and if you use a coupon, you can get it for less!
