This is part 2 of a review of the 1930’s American Style Sewing Machine. Last week we took a close-up look at the fun vintage details of the set. If you missed part 1 of the review you can find it here. I received this sewing machine for American Girl dolls and other 18 inch dolls from The Queen’s Treasures to review.
This week Ivy has pulled up a stool and is going to give us a little demonstration on the doll sewing machine!
American Girl dolls and most other 18 inch dolls are limited in movement by their joints, or rather, by their lack of joints. This can make it tricky to properly pose dolls with some furniture and accessories.
I was so excited when I placed a doll up to the sewing table, sitting on the stool. The sewing machine, table and stool are designed to work well with American Girl dolls and any other 18 inch dolls!
Attention to detail in the design is what makes this work! For instance you can see the way the table curves in, below the middle drawer, in the photo below. That curve gives just enough room for the doll legs to fit under the table and reach the treadle.
Up on top of the table and sewing machine Ivy has a place for each hand. One on the wheel and one on the table.
This little doll sewing machine is a lot of fun for setting up scenes for play or display.
I have a few things in mind to make this little doll sewing machine part of a sewing room or two. I would like to try it both for a historical setting and modern!
I hope you found it interesting and helpful to see this doll sewing machine in action with a doll!

Thanks! I think the details of the sewing machine really shine with a doll showing it off!
