My kids and I exhausted the fairytale row in the library a few years ago. One thing I realized is how many, many versions of Cinderella there are. The local library carried versions from all over the world. Like this one with an Egyptian twist.
This one from Alaska just looks fun!
Or maybe Cendrillon from the Caribbean catches your eye.
I was going to compile a list of more Cinderella tales from around the world but I found a great list here.
Stories spill over into play.
I think dolls are such an excellent bridge to education. Kids play to learn. Reading opens up the imagination. These little Cinderella Accessories go along with the most familiar version of Cinderella. 🙂 Make them for your dolls and use it as an opportunity to explore some other versions of Cinderella from around the world.
I wrote the tutorial for fairytale week at Camp Doll Diaries where dolls and fairytales are having a mashup all week!
I hope you will enjoy a little reading together and playing together! Oh, and be sure you are never, ever too old for both! 🙂

My personal favorite has always been the Native American version called The Rough Faced Girl.
