A Nightstand Makeover

I have a nightstand makeover to share with you!  With a little paint and a cardboard box as a drawer stand in, we have the perfect compliment to our bed.  I hope this project gets you excited to look for doll sized treasures waiting to be discovered and fixed up!

The nightstand is part of our Santa’s Workshop 2012.  If you missed anything I’ve included a few links!

Our doll nightstand is functional and cute!IMG_5114

It came with the little round legs.  They were an inspiration for the bed legs and made the two pieces coordinate together better.

The nightstand top is a fun place to add a few accessories like a lamp, notepad, pen….

….or even to hang a stocking.

The drawer holds outfits and accessories for the doll!  In this photo you have to check out the handle!  It is a push pin glued on!

This is the piece before the makeover, fresh from the thrift store.

I wanted a drawer and hunted around until I came up with this cardboard holiday box.

I glued a wooden flower to the front to make it match the headboard on the bed.  I glued on the push pin “drawer pull”.

Both the drawer and the nightstand have several coats of white spray paint.

This last minute find was a great addition to the bedroom set with a cute simple makeover!

Are you making any homemade gifts this holiday season?

  1. Where did you get the lamp? I want to get one of them soon! And I’m going to make the nightstand and the bed during my spring break.

    1. The lamp is a book light from the dollar store. I love that it really works! That’s great you have a plan to make a bed and nightstand! I’d love to see pics of what you make!

      1. Thanks for telling me where you got the lamp! Now I know where to find one for my dolls! And I’ll send in pictures of the things I make during my spring break.

  2. Yeah, thanks for telling me!! I’ve been looking all over online and then I finally read the comments and they told us… where can I find the pen and paper?

    1. The paper is from a mini notepad. The pen is just a mini pen I picked up in the office supply row in the store.

    1. If you have a smaller doll, like hearts4hearts girl, just scale down what you are working on. Most ideas can be scaled up or down depending on the size of your doll. Good luck!

  3. Do you happen to know the dimensions of the nightstand and the thickness of the wood? This is very cute!
