I’m excited to take a closer look at this little doll size apron with you today! It arrived as a plain white apron, sent from Char with Doll Diaries. As many of you know I write a weekly doll craft/review/tutorial for Doll Diaries. I was so excited Char sent me a few aprons because they are a craft project/play item all rolled in one. That pretty much makes it awesome right away! 🙂
Yes, this apron is adorable all white but it’s not supposed to stay plain white because it has bigger and better plans! It’s intended to be decorated and personalized!
Let’s take a look!
This doll size apron was created for Doll Diaries by Sophia’s (My Doll’s Life).
The apron has a great basic shape to add your own embellishments or decorations to personalize it for your doll!
The apron itself is made of a cotton. There is a knit binding on the neckline and under the arms that extends to make the ties at the neck and around the waist.
The apron is easy on and off with a velcro closure at the neck.
The dainty ruffle at the bottom of the apron is also a knit. It lays very nicely and the scale is perfect for dolls.
Now to decorate! Oh, the possibilities are endless! This is where you get creative with paint, fabric markers, ribbon, buttons, felt and stitches to personalize this little apron!
Today I was feeling felt, so I went with it. It started with felt bows along the ruffle edge. The bows are made out of small rectangles with the centers pinched. I used an adhesive on the back to hold them in place. You could also wrap thread or yarn around the center of the rectangles to add definition to the bows.
There is a fringe of felt along the neckline made out of strips of felt. I cut the fringe at an angle on each side meeting in the center.
And that is it, a little felt here, a little felt there and I have a unique one-of-a-kind little doll apron!
I have to say I also love the length of this apron and the general shape. It’s very flattering on dolls!
I have a few more aprons that I’m excited to experiment with. One of the projects will also involve a certain 3 year old at my house who already comes with natural inklings to decorate everything she sees! Ha! She’s going to love to decorate an apron for her dolls!
If you are also excited to decorate your own doll apron you can get your’s at the Doll Diaries Etsy shop. It even comes with a few embellishments to get you started!
