I’ve been having fun with halloween rings and paint this fall. It’s funny how once you start playing with something, like halloween rings, it leads to more and more ideas. It’s a fun process and I’m usually surprised with what I end up with.
My first Halloween ring project this fall was this spooky fence I made for Doll Diaries.
I had so much fun decorating and painting those rings, I sat down and made four more projects. This trick-or-treat bowl was over at Doll Diaries.
Remember this quick little stand holding a picture? Yep, Halloween rings and paint!
With two projects left I will share one today and another soon. Really soon. After all Halloween will be here before you know it!
Today’s addition to my Halloween ring crafting spree is a doll size cake stand. No cake today, but it is still a useful pedestal for the doll table. I’m using mine to serve up a potion collection.
I embellished my stand with bats. Any Halloween shape will do. It’s the texture that gives it an ornate look. A little paint also does a lot to dress it up. Let’s take a closer look at how it’s made!
This little stand is made from 3 canning lids and a canning ring. Stacking the lids gives the stand a little height.
It is embellished with shapes from Halloween rings. Just cut off the ring portion and you are left with a little Halloween shape. Little bats adorn this stand.
To give it a finished look paint it all one color. I painted mine black. Regular craft paint will do. After the paint dried I rubbed it with silver craft paint on a dry brush. I put quite a bit of silver on because I wanted the stand to look like it’s made of pewter. While applying the silver I tried to leave the cracks and crevices black. I kept the coat of paint thin so the black shows through.
I love the height of this decorative stand. I would love to make a Halloween cake to serve on top. For now I will enjoy it on a Halloween party table serving up potions!
I know, so simple and yet so fun!
Last but not least the final Halloween ring project is coming soon. It is really different than any ring project I created before and it surprised me how well it turned out! Yea!
See you soon!
