Make a cushion your doll’s chair!
It’s a simple sewing project to add lots of color!
Make one to match a tea set.
Make a second to match your other tea set. 🙂
This project will work with any doll chair you already have.
The examples today are for round cushions but this idea works for rectangle or square cushions as well
Take a close up look at the cute detail of the cushion dimples!
Which one’s your favorite? My daughter already voted for the purple one.
I just can’t decide! I like them both!
Now let’s get started. You need to first cut a pattern for you cushion. Cut your shape about 3/4 inch larger, all the way around, than the seat. That allows for 1/2 inch seam allowance and 1/4 inch for when you stuff it and the expanding pillow shrinks the overall size. (If that makes any sense!)
Keep an open mind as to the fabric you choose. These lightweight denim capri’s had the right pattern size and look for a chair cushion!
Pin and cut 2.
Put “right sides”(the side of the fabric with the design on it) together.
Sew using 1/2 inch seam allowance. Don’t mind my double line as I was trying to figure out the best seam allowance! Remember to leave an opening.
Clip rounded edges in a V so the seam will be smooth when you turn it inside out.
All the way around!
Turn inside out and stuff it with batting.
Pin the center.
See?
With needle and thread, sew down and up where the pin is.
Continue by placing 5 pIns evenly spaced around the center dimple. Hand sew the same as before, at each pin. Close the opening by hand sewing it shut.
Now start over and make a second one, just for fun! 🙂
As a note, this purple loose weave, stretchy one direction fabric, is quite different from the pink rose fabric. I put less batting in it and I like the effect. It is softer and squishier. I think working with a knit might be fun for the same reason!
Sit back and enjoy what you made and then jump in for some play.
If you can decide which one to use!
Have fun making your own cushion for your dolls’ chair!

Adorable! I really need to make a couple of these for the doll chairs! They would make perfect pet bed cushions too! 🙂 fakingitmostly.com
